In the article 'The 2012 dengue outbreak in Madeira: exploring the origins' by A Wilder-Smith et al., published on 27 February 2014, an acknowledgement was added to the manuscript: “Acknowledgements: The research was undertaken by partners of DengueTools (AWS, MQ, JR, OS, J L-H, LF) (51) and by KK, the founder of Bio.Diaspora. The research was funded by DengueTools under the Health theme of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Community, Grant Agreement Number: 282589.“ This correction was made on 6 March 2014 at the request of the authors.
