Abstract

As recentes epidemias de febre hemorrágica por vírus Ebola, no Zaire e no Gabão, fizeram lembrar que infecções perigosas podem ser importadas para a Europa, muito rapidamente. As reuniões, organizadas pela Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) em 1993 e 1994 (1,2), sobre patogénios emergentes e re-emergentes, focaram-se nos problemas dos arbovirus e vírus das febres hemorrágicas e na necessidade de formar uma rede mundial para a troca de informação, reagentes e metodologias.
