We report an outbreak of acute gastroenteritis among Greek schoolchildren following a two-day excursion at the end of April, 2007.

Since the later part of June 2007, three European Union (EU) Member States (Czech Republic, Germany, and France) have recorded cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) of the subtype A/H5N1 in bird populations.

An increasing proportion of tuberculosis (TB) cases today are resistant to first line, and often also to second line anti-TB drugs. Drug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis are now responsible for over 400,000 cases of TB per year.
